How we handle corrections
When VegOut publishes something that turns out to be wrong, we correct it. This page explains how.
What we correct
Factual errors. Names misspelled, dates wrong, numbers wrong, attributions misplaced, claims that don't hold up to a second look. We correct them when we learn of them, regardless of how minor.
Stale information. Restaurants that close, products that change, regulations that move — we update the original piece with a note when the underlying facts have shifted significantly enough that the original would mislead a reader.
Misleading framing. If a headline or framing was misleading even when the body was technically accurate, we revise the framing and add a correction note.
How we mark corrections
We do not silently change published articles. When we correct something, we either:
- Add an editor's note at the top or bottom of the piece describing what was wrong and what was changed, with the date of correction;
- Or, for minor typo-level fixes, just fix them without a note (this applies only to formatting, spelling of common words, and similar non-substantive edits).
How to flag something
If you've spotted an error, email [email protected] or use the contact form. We read every message and reply to substantive corrections requests within five working days.
